2016 Canadian Screen Awards Red Carpet
Canada’s 4th annual Canadian Screen Awards honours the talented and inspiring in categories such as television, film and digital media production. The awards celebrate Canadian productions and talents who surpass expectations in front of the camera and behind the scenes. This years awards was hosted by Canadian actor and comedian Norm Macdonald, who had the audience in an uproar of laughter throughout the night. He even advocated a new name for the Canadian Screen Awards—The Candy, in honour of the late comedian John Candy. A sweet gesture for such a beloved actor and comic.
Let us not forget another treasured Canadian icon, who was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award — Martin Short. He is best known for his work on the television programs Second City Television and Saturday Night Live, which Short and Candy starred in along side each other. Short as well is celebrated for comedy films such as Three Amigos, Father of the Bride and many more. The Lifetime Achievement Award honours the outstanding contributions to the Canadian film and television industries. His work in the industry has been an influence not only in Canada, but in the United States as well. Worldwide he has generated quite the following with his sharp comedy and renowned characters. Throughout his success he has still remained a passionate fan of the industry at home in Canada.
