The Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) was put together to celebrate exceptional achievement and emerging talent in the Canadian fashion industry. The purpose of CAFA, as a nationwide platform, is to cultivate the next generation of Canadian talent through an annual awards show and year-round commercial development initiatives. This kind of exposure will develop a stronger appreciation for Canadian talent at home and across the globe. CAFA hosted its third annual red-carpet Awards show event on Friday, April 15th, 2016, which included a unique evening that connects Canadian talent and fashion guides from around the world. The event honours designers, models, image creators, stylists and other guides that made an impact on the Canadian fashion industry. CAFA has now established itself as a leading event in the Canadian fashion industry through the many honourees. The event will hopefully bring exposure to Canadian fashion and bring more economic development in Canada’s fashion industry.

Awards that were given at the event were ones such as The Womenswear Designer of the Year, The Menswear Designer of the Year, The Fashion Design Student Award, The Image Maker Award, The Model of the Year Award and many others. All nominees rightfully deserved to be there whether or not they won the award. The night was about the appreciation of the Canadian Fashion industry and that is what they did. It was truly an incredible evening and a genuine celebration of the exceptional talent within our country. A big congratulations to all the winners and nominees on such a successful and inspiring night.

Much Music Video Awards 2015 hosted by Ed Sheeran

The 2015 MMVAs shook up Toronto with Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Drake

You would be living under a very enormous rock if you haven’t heard about the star-studded, highly entertaining party that hit ‘The 6’ in a very big way! The 2015 MMVAs rocked the downtown streets of Toronto last night, from massive crowds, screaming fans with cell phone in hand, to heavy super-star musicians all glammed up for the much-anticipated 2015 Much Music Video Awards.

What else can we say about Brit singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran? How about he is EPIC! Not only can this man of many talents, sing, write and dance in his own music videos, but he can also win a couple of awards along the way while brilliantly hosting the very same awards gig! His hosting ability seemed to have aligned well with his laid back candid personality and even trickled into his acceptance speeches for Best International Artist and Most Buzzworthy International Artist. "This is my fourth year (and) I've never won one — I feel like it's just because I'm presenting," he said while accepting his first award, for best international artist. "So thank you very much for this." ‘Thinking Out Loud’, Mr.
Ed Sheeran, I seriously may have a crush on you – awesome job! Torontobased R&B singer Abel Tesfaye, best known by his stage name The Weeknd, was the night's big winner. The 25-year-old artist definitely “Earned It” by taking home four awards, including Video of the Year and Most Buzzworthy Canadian. Not only was he on stage accepting his awards, he returned, setting the crowds of fans on fire with his performance of “The Hills” and of course he did not leave that stage without giving the fans what we’ve all been yearning for, “Earned It”. To be honest, I still feel the after effects of that performance! The Weeknd you undoubtedly ended our weekend in the best way! A surprise visit from ‘The 6’ man himself, Drake, is never a bad thing; in fact the entire audience and onstage hosts were even in shock including local rapper P.Reign. Super-star
Drizzy walked on stage when his friend P. Reign won for best hip-hop video. For those of you who don’t know, Drake co-directed the video and buoyed the song with a guest verse. A bearded Drake, briefly took the mike before handing over the spotlight back to his buddy, P.Reign, who said, "My brother Drizzy Drake is in the building! That's my brother for life."

Other ‘really really really really’ extraordinary performances that left the Toronto streets quaking for hours afterwards was the stunning Carley Rae Jepson with “I Really Like You”. Canadian alternative rock and reggae band, Walk Off The Earth did not hold back performing “Rule The World” with the crew all dressed in white, introducing us to exceptional instrumental sound that drove the crowd wild and let’s not forget about the fierce lyricism of the very pregnant band member, Sarah Blackwood – I love strong women! The epic party continued on with outstanding performances from Nick Jonas, Jason Derulo to Adam Lambert, Mia Martinis and many more.

What a night to remember Torontonians, looking forward to next year MMVAs!
